Hurricane / Disaster Relief

Firstly, thank you all for your tremendous response to the needs of those affected by hurricanes Irma and Maria. Irma did serious damage to many churches, especially those in the Keys. Maria devastated almost everything in the Virgin Islands.

We have made significant progress in repairing buildings, gathering and delivering materials and supplies, and providing necessary equipment to help our ministers and people return to normal. However, we are not finished. Although other areas of the Caribbean have received more press, Peninsular Florida churches and congregations are still in great need. Electric power will not be restored to most areas of the Virgin Islands until late this year or early next year. Buildings of our churches in the Keys are not fully repaired.

I am asking for your help again. Could you please take a love offering in a service sometime before Thanksgiving? Simply let your people respond to the suffering of our brothers and sisters. Join Athena and me in giving what you can. No pressure. Just give a true “love offering” to help those still overwhelmed by these disasters but working hard to overcome the residual problems. Then, send the offering, whatever it is, to:

“Hurricane / Disaster Relief”
Peninsular Florida District Office
P.O. Box 24687
Lakeland, FL. 33801

Together, we can make a huge difference and speed the work of getting back to normal.

God bless you. Thanks from the bottom of my heart.

Terry Raburn, Superintendent
Peninsular Florida District Council
