March 31, 1945 – April 2, 2018
Today, April 2, 2018, Reverend Edwin Cordero went on to be with the Lord. Edwin Cordero was born on March 31, 1945 in Puerto Rico to Gregoria and Cristino Cordero. Brother Cordero is survived by his wife, Janet Cordero, and his 6 children, Cindy (Greg) Read, Greg (Debbie) Cordero, Jeannie (Ron) Strohmeyer, Lolly Cordero, Jennifer (Wesley) Twiggs, and Jonathan Cordero, as well as 13 grandchildren, 4 great grandchildren and his 2 sisters Anita and Judy Cordero. Brother Cordero attended and graduated Southeastern Bible College in Lakeland, Florida during the late 60’s. He went on to earn a Doctorate of Ministry degree from Pittsburgh Theological Seminary in the early 90’s.
Edwin spent his entire career as a pastor in South Florida and much of that time included being a member of Peninsular Florida District Council of the Assemblies of God Presbytery Board. He began his ministry at a youth center in Sweetwater, Florida then moved to Miami, Florida to a church called House of Prayer, later renamed University Assembly of God, where he joined the Assembly of God denomination. In 1985, Edwin moved his family further south to be the senior pastor at First Assembly of God in Florida City, Florida where he served for 19 years. After pastoring two additional churches, Edwin retired and moved with his wife and daughter, Lolly, to Mississippi in 2016. He was dedicated to his ministry and will always be remembered by those he served. He was loved by his wife, his kids and his district. Brother Cordero now is in the presence of our Lord and Savior, Jesus.
