Junior Bible Quiz

What is JBQ?
/files/Children/JBQ/buzzer-clr-72.jpgJunior Bible Quiz (JBQ) was created and designed to help children develop a love for the Bible and an understanding that its truth can guide their lives daily. Junior Bible Quiz offers a fun, exciting way to motivate children to understand the all-important truths in God’s Word. Through cooperative learning, children work together on teams to learn and understand the questions and answers from the Bible Fact-Pak. Then using cooperative competition the children meet with other teams for a fun quizzing match. There are twenty questions in a match, with two teams of quizzers trying to beat each other to the buzzers to get the first shot at the answers. It has been said that JBQ is the fastest growing discipleship program in children’s ministry.

How to Get Started

If you are interested in starting a JBQ ministry, here are five easy steps to help you get started.

  1. Introduce JBQ:

Purchase a Bible Fact-Pak or Bible Fact-Pak Study Guide and introduce the questions to the children during Sunday School, Children's Church, VBS, or on Sunday or Wednesday nights. (Keep in mind that the Radiant Life Sunday School curriculum for Primary, Middler, and PreTeen includes Bible Fact-Pak question numbers with each lesson)

This introduction to JBQ will help the children and others in the church to become excited about the program, and will help you see which children are motivated to continue.

  2. Select Leaders:

Appoint at least one person to oversee the program and to test the children as they progress through the
Bible Master Award program. If you choose to enter team quizzing, select at least one coach per team.

Encourage parents of interested children to become involved. Junior Bible Quiz can be a success only with the help of parents! Encourage participants to visit this website to learn all they can about Junior Bible Quiz.

  3. Order Supplies:

Each child should be given, or encouraged to purchase, a Bible Fact-Pak or the Bible Fact-Pak Study Guide. If finances are tight, you can buy one box of cards and divide them up between the quizzers.

Be sure to purchase a JBQ Manual and the Official JBQ Quiz Guidelines if you plan to enter team quizzing.

  4. Recruit Quizzers:

Ask permission to present JBQ during Sunday School, Children's Church, Sunday Worship, and other church ministries. Make your presentation exciting, showing parents and children that JBQ makes Bible study fun and challenging.

Once quizzers are recruited, you can schedule a regular meeting time. While the Bible Fact-Pak can be used in conjunction with other programs, the greatest benefits come from regularly scheduled study and practice times. Many groups come early before the evening service on Sunday or Wednesday, others schedule after-school or Saturday sessions.

Make these times fun, using devotions and games, not just rote memory, to help the children learn the content of the Bible Fact-Pak.

  5. Charter Your Team:

If you wish to enter team competition and join league meets in your area, contact Grant Foster to charter your team.
