After 14 years of civil war, costing hundreds of thousands of lives, and the devastation of an entire nation,
this small West African country now has a wide open door for ministry. Although there is 70%
unempioyment, and the people are living on an average of $1 per day, with no electricity or running water
in the nation, God is moving in an unprecedented way, and people, by the droves, are coming to faith in
Christ. Unfortunately, there are not enough trained pastors to lead them (only about 50% of the AG
churches have a trained pastor). And, on top of that, the Bible School was destroyed by rebels and must be
rebuilt. Here's our 5-point project strategy and its costs:
- Missionaries on the ground.
Veteran West Africa missionaries DeVane and Mary McGee just arrived in
Liberia to spearhead our mission efforts. - Rebuild the Owens Bible School - $450,000
Classrooms (8 buildings @ $30,000 average cost) - $240,000 Dormitories (4 buildings @ $30,000 average cost) - $120,000 Furnishings (12 buildings @ $4,200 average cost) - $50,000 Generators (2 units @ $20,000 installed) - $40,000 - Install Water Wells (for Bible School & community) - $40,000
Deep water wells will provide sanitary drinking water for the Bible School students and staff. The Bible
School will also provide safe drinking water to the entire community as an outreach. People will come
there to get fresh water and will also receive the Living Water, as pastors-in-training minister to them. - Establish a Radio Station - $50,000
One of the primary ways that Liberians stay informed is through radio. There are only a few radio
stations in the country, but God miraculously opened a door for the Liberian Assemblies of God to
receive a "hard-to-get" radio license for the capital city of Monrovia, covering over a million people.
The government believes that the voice the Assemblies of God can help bring healing to the nation. - Build Church Roofs - $80,000
Our goal is to put the roofs on forty (40) churches at a cost of $2,000 each. The Liberian AG churches
are comprised of hardworking people. If we build a roof structure on columns, just enough covering to
hold services out from under the hot Liberian sun, they can complete their churches over time with the
assistance, and resources, of those who attend. Planting strong churches is always our #1 goal! Our vision is to help establish a strong Liberian Assemblies of God Church. We already have a missionary team
on the ground. We already have an open door. All we need now is your financial help, and the power of the
Holy Spirit to work through us to make this vision a reality. |
