Miriam Machovec

*an active mature adult at Christian Life Center in Fort 
    Lauderdale

*missions' conventions speaker

*conference speaker

Her early years she:

*helped her husband launch their family business

*administered services to the elderly through a network of
    nursing homes

*administered Park Manor Care Center for 10 years

*taught Sunday school for 5 years

*led Sunday school worship for elementary children 10 years

*served her community on the board of an organization that
    oversaw the needs of area retarded children

*served as counselor at their summer camp

*was widowed at age 47

*sold the family business in 1981, which consisted of 5 nursing

    homes, to serve the Lord full-time

*began a 3-year term on the missions' board of First Assembly

    in Des Moines, Iowa in 1983

Her retirement years:

*In 1988 Mirian volunteered for the A/G ministry project -
    Book of Hope

*In 1991 she was part of the first mission's team to Russia
    (Affect Destiny Team) to distribute the Book of Hope

*This lead to her volunteering to process and lead teams into
    Russia for Book of Hope distribution

*Then she transitioned from distribution to become the event
    coordinator for Hope Celebration

*In 2004 Miriam traveled with Book of Hope to South Africe
    where she saw the ravages of the AIDS virs on families,
    children without parents or grandparents, many HIV positive

    and left without the basic necessities of life.

*Granny Brigade was born. Every year since, Miriam has led
    groups of grannies to South Africa where they visit an
    orphanage, a refuge camp that cares for over 25,000 people,
    shacks where children are raising childrenm and public schools.
    They love on babies and toddlers as only grandmothers can;
    take gifts; distribute the Book of Hope; show the animated
    film - The GodMan; and spread the love and hope found in
    Jesus Christ.

*In 2007, well past the age of retirement, Miriam partnered with
    a friend in her hometown of Deerfield Beach to begin a small
    group Bible study in Century Village, a large neighborhood in
    the South Florida area.
