Vision Mission Purpose

In 1995 the Pen-Florida district recognized the need for

ministry to and from the senior adults and established the

Adult Ministries department known today as AM

Vision

Adult Ministries is ministry to and through mature adults to the church and the world for service, outreach, Christian growth and discipleship, fellowship, friendship, and love.

Mission

Develop and sustain a responsive and accessible ministry

Provide opportunities and resources for those 50 years and older

Increase dignity and independence, and develop the whole person

The adults of our churches must be ministered to on a mature adult level for spiritual, social, physical and mental development. Their unique needs for fellowship, pleasure, spiritual challenge and involvement must be met. Spiritual and social needs can be met at gatherings in worship and special events such as the annual Harvest Cruise, AM Retreat, and out-of-town travel.

Involvement in the local church or community can encompass care giving, prayer ministry or mentoring younger generations. We encourage church leadership to utilize adults’ experience and wisdom so that it may benefit the church community as a whole.

Purpose

1.    Exalt the Name of Jesus Christ

It is the purpose of the Adult Ministries groups to provide additional opportunities to worship and honor Jesus Christ.

2.    Edify Believers

We recognize the need to encourage fellow adults in their personal devotional life and in the use of their natural and spiritual gifts to further the work of Jesus Christ.

3.    Enhance the Work of the Local Church

We desire to foster the program and ministry of the local church through encouragement for regular attendance, prayerful intercession, and stewardship

4.    Evangelize the Lost

We recognize that mankind is lost without Jesus Christ and we desire by discipleship to be a constant witness in attitude, word, and deed to reach others for Christ and His kingdom.

Our Priorities are:

1.      To encourage mature adults to discover their Spiritual gifts, Heart, Abilities, Personalities and Experiences.

2.      To provide life-changing, meaningful, learning experiences through Bible study and transformational discipleship.

3.      To mobilize mature adults for ministry.

4.      To provide support and encouragement through networks/groups for mature adults.

5.      To provide recreation activities that renew, refresh and recreate individuals.

6. To develop an intentional plan to promote Pen-Florida Adult Ministries.
